Hand Dug Basement for Hvac

Coming into this project we knew it was not going to be an easy one and a challenging one at that, but we knew it was something we could handle. This homeowner had all of the engineering already complete and was ready for us to start. The Hvac company would not replace the old furnace and water heater until there was a safe amount of working space along with a drain for the new equipment. We at KnM Concrete took on this project with the goal of completion before winter. The basement entrance was only a small hole that allowed enough crawl space under the home, we started with hand digging and shoveling out the dirt into a wheelbarrow and dumping it into a dump trailer. After hand digging out roughly 80,000 lbs. of dirt, we were able to start pouring the floor and then the walls. We finished shoring the home up with new beams and footing for the beam weight to be carried on.
